This nifty hack to access USB on iPad with GoodReader will allow you to mount a USB Stick and not only view the files, but also edit them. The hack will allow you to access /var/mnt/mount1, which is a hidden USB directory within GoodReader for iPad. The following tutorial will show you what you need to download and how to access USB on iPad.

Step 1: To access USB with GoodReader, you will need the following:

-A camera kit for iPad

-iPad with jailbreak and SSH

-GoodReader for iPad.

Step 2: Connect your iPad with SSH and access your iPad with SSH.

Step 3: Type in the following commands as shown:

mkdir /Volumes
mkdir /Volumes/USB
cd /var
mv mnt mnt_old
ln -s /Volumes/USB mnt
cd `find / -name GoodReaderIPad.app`/../Documents
ln -s /Volumes/USB/mount1 USB
Step 4: Connect your USB stick into your camera kit and wait for an error message to pop up. After the error message, launch GoodReader to access your USB stick on iPad.
Now you can open PPT/DOC/XLS files and edit them on your USB stick with GoodReader for iPad. Simply navigate your USB directory and use the "open with" option to start accessing, opening and editing files!
